“Warmth for Paws” is one of the campaigns organized by our foundation’s volunteers, during which students sew soft beds for stray animals living in Lithuanian shelters. The goal of this campaign is not only to support Lithuanian shelters, but also to educate students about the current situation of stray animals in our country. After making the beds, students deliver them to a shelter of their choice. This way they see what the reality is and how many stray animals live in shelters. We very much hope that the “Warmth for Paws” campaign teaches children to act with empathy, care for the vulnerable, and most importantly to be responsible when raising an animal. We aim to show that every animal is an individual soul, and human warmth is more precious to them than anything else. The beds are made from old unworn sweaters that are given a second life with a noble purpose. We believe that a bed made from a person’s sweater passes on their warmth, love, and care to homeless four-legged friends.
So, we want to share with everyone the results of the 2017 campaign, which exceeded all our expectations. This year, 12 schools across Lithuania joined this campaign, and their students made 377 beds, supporting various Lithuanian shelters. We are very happy to have reached the hearts of students and shown them that human warmth means a full life for animals.
The “Warmth for Paws” campaign gives children in schools the opportunity to very easily sew a bed following the provided instructional video. The main things needed for a quality bed are an OLD SWEATER, any STUFFING, thread, and a needle. After all, everyone has worn-out and unnecessary sweaters at home, and it’s no loss to donate an old pillow set aside for guests. Isn’t it good to give an old and unnecessary garment a second life and provide warmth to someone who really needs it?
Once again, we say thank you to all the communities, teachers, and students who participated in the campaign, and we hope that this year, 2018, we will continue this campaign together and give animals our warmth.
