- About Us
We have been fighting animal cruelty since 2014
“Lietuva – gyvūnams” is a non-profit animal welfare organization founded by Deimantė Guobytė’s initiative in 2014. For more than a decade now, we have been rescuing abused, injured, and homeless animals throughout Lithuania.
We fight illegal animal breeding operations and animal cruelty, care for the treatment and rehabilitation of rescued animals, organize temporary foster care, and find them responsible and loving homes.
An important part of our organization is our volunteers, who dedicate their time, attention, and care to animal welfare. Everyone contributes according to their abilities—from helping with the organization’s daily operations to providing temporary foster care or spreading information. Our volunteer community helps us reach more people and together provide help to more animals throughout Lithuania.
What makes our organization unique is that we are not a traditional shelter—we work on a foster care model. Rescued animals live in foster homes, where they socialize, become familiar with a home environment, and wait for their permanent family.
Temporary foster care is a wonderful opportunity to contribute even for those who cannot commit to caring for an animal for its entire life, but can provide it with a safe home and care for a limited time. Living in foster homes, rescued animals naturally reach a wider circle of people—foster families’ relatives, friends, and acquaintances, as well as people who find it emotionally difficult to visit animal shelters. This gives them more
opportunities to find responsible, loving homes.
- A Word from the Founder
I founded “Lietuva – gyvūnams” in 2014 driven by a desire to help those who cannot ask for help themselves. Animals cannot speak, so we must be their voice.
I wanted this organization not only to rescue animals, but also to unite like-minded people, educate society, and inspire people not to remain indifferent.
I believe that the world is changed by those who start with themselves, because sometimes one person’s choice can change another’s entire life. Animal welfare is in all of our hands.

Charitable Foundation
The LT for Animals Foundation is a charitable organization led by Deimantė Guobytė. It raises funds to support volunteer initiatives, cover veterinary treatment costs for rescued animals, and finance other essential animal welfare efforts.

How We Use Your Support
TRANSPORTATION
When we receive a report about an abandoned animal, we immediately go to the location. We take all rescued animals to veterinary clinics. If an animal finds a new home in another city, we also transport it at our own expense. To enable smooth operations, we need fuel.
INITIAL VETERINARY EXAMINATION AND TESTS
Every animal we take into our care is always taken to a veterinary clinic
to be examined by specialists and to have all necessary tests performed to assess
their current health condition.
QUARANTINE
Some animals need to be quarantined and housed in clinic/hotel facilities
for at least a few days until all parasites are removed and they can travel to their
temporary foster homes.
TREATMENT, MEDICATION, SURGERIES, HOSPITALIZATION
Almost always, our rescued animals are sick—some mildly, others severely. In some cases, animals are so severely neglected that they require surgeries to save their lives. More seriously ill animals need to be kept in clinic hospitalization. Our volunteers make every effort to avoid having to euthanize an animal.
VACCINATIONS AND MICROCHIPPING
To protect an animal from further health problems, vaccinations are essential. We also microchip and register every animal as a ward of the Lithuania for Animals organization.
GROOMING
When we take an animal into our care, we also take it to a groomer. Neglected animals need not only to be bathed, but also groomed, have parasites removed from their coat, have their nails trimmed, and have their ears cleaned.
ANIMAL CARE KIT AND FULL SUPPORT IN FOSTER HOMES
Leashes, collars, food bowls, clothing, beds, transport crates, toys, litter boxes—our organization provides a care kit for every rescued animal. We also provide food and other necessary items for all animals in temporary foster care.

The results of our work are best described by the “Before and After” photos of our rescued animals. In this gallery, you see only a very small portion. Our organization has rescued over 1,100 four-legged friends—both dogs and cats—over 11 years of operation.
