It’s no secret that Lithuania has quite a large number of shelters housing thousands of homeless four-legged friends. These shelters are non-profit organizations that survive solely on financial and other support received from people. The number of animals in shelters is so large that it’s very difficult to feed all the animals and care for them properly. Not to mention vaccinations, spaying, neutering, medications, or even surgeries.
This year, the “Lietuva – Gyvūnams” team began carrying out food collection drives, which are organized in shopping centers across major cities. Our team has already carried out 7 such campaigns this year, during which we collected a total of 72 full carts of food for animals, which was distributed to selected shelters in Lithuania. Our team has already visited the Akropolis shopping centers in Klaipėda and Vilnius, the Banginis shopping center in Klaipėda twice, the Big shopping center in Klaipėda once, and the Panorama shopping center in Vilnius and the Mega shopping center in Kaunas once each.
“Lietuva – Gyvūnams” volunteers are once again organizing a food collection drive at the “Studlendas” shopping center in Klaipėda and invite everyone to contribute to the welfare of stray animals in Lithuania. The campaign will take place on November 18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You’ll find the campaign stand near the Kika store, where you can purchase donated food or other items for animals at a 30% discount.
